My daily dose of RSS-reads just gave me another great find: DaiyDisk. A simple application that scans your hard disks and graphically presents the content. Not only visually pleasing, but also a great way to easily spot large files. (via SwissMiss)

Since my colleagues asked me to blog about my experiences @ Cannes Lions 2011 (yes, you know who you are!), here I am jotting down some first thoughts about what is officaly known as the "Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity". Mind that they dropped the word 'advertising' in that label this year.

Up untill now, it has been a pretty impressive experience. It sounds like such a big cliché, but I'm just going to use it anyway: the cream of the crop of the world's advertising is indeed here! The best in art direction, the best insights, the best ideas, the best of pretty much everything. Nearly all of them you wish you had come up with it yourself. It's pretty humbling, I must say. You feel like such a small, insignificant part of a very big community.

Attached some images from the Press Lions shortlist exhibition, which I found impressive either graphically or insightfully. You decide which one is which. More later!

PS: For up to the minute information (if the festivals Wifi allows me), follow me on Twitter or do a Twitter-search on #canneslions. I've also made a Twitter list of all Belgian people at Cannes Lions this year.

Just had a very nice workshop with the people from Cirkus. Each team had to come up with an idea for an ad for a given product and then play for assets to actually make it via a cool designed boardgame with a 30.000$ budget. After that the teams had to present their idea to the other teams. My team of 2 Romanians, 2 Dutch guys and a Russian came in second! Sweeet! Without a doubt the most fun experience at Cannes up untill now!

  • About

I am a multi-tasking design fanatic. I like pretty papers and patterns and stickers and ribbons and loads of other things, as you might have guessed.

I love car boot sales and flee markets. I want to create my own typeset some day (soon). I have a very wide taste in music & movies but can't stand musicals. And oh yeah, I'm doing my bit to design the web ^_^
